Alex + Stephen :: Part One :: The Color Palette

We’re sharing this with you from this morning’s post on the Vista West Ranch blog.  Petal Pushers designed the flowers and decor for Alex and Stephen’s wedding and in conjunction with Vista West’s blog series about their wedding, we’re going do a similar blog series, going into a bit more detail about their wedding flowers and decor.

We’ll start off the series focusing on their pretty peach color palette.  We love love love “Color Bars” like the one we’ve created and shared above.  This is a great tool when planning and designing your wedding… it can even help you nail down a color concept if you are having a hard time deciding between a few options.  From the get-go, Alex and Stephen knew they wanted their wedding to feel casual and nice, but not stuffy.  They wanted color, but not overwhelming color… so they went with hues of light pink, light orange, and peach.  They also knew they wanted more muted tones of the colors than pastels.  As you’ll see over the next week, Alex did a fantastic job tying together her color palette through her flowers and tablescapes, the wedding party’s attire, the linens and the rest of her details, right down to the real peaches that adorned the tables amongst the flowers.  The neutral background of the barn and the natural landscape of the ceremony setting lent themselves well to her soft and rustic chic style.  Alex’s photographer, Erin Woosley of EE Photography couldn’t have done a better job, in our opinion, of capturing the look and feel of Alex and Stephen’s “rustic chic” peachy celebration.  And the photo below, that’s the clever seating chart that brought together all the shades and hues of Alex and Stephen’s color palette that were used in various aspects of the wedding details and decor.  We love!

Tomorrow, we’ll look at Alex’s initial floral inspiration and ideas and show you how Petal Pushers transformed that into reality on her wedding day.

xoxo,

Angela and the Petal Pushers Team

Engagement Parties, And An Ode To BHLDN (part 1 of many, I’m sure)

Happy Thursday everyone!  We wanted to share some great articles with you today that are sure to help with your planning AND brighten up your morning!

We can’t tell you how many times we have brides tell us that they want an “Anthropologie-inspired” wedding.  (Oh, I can just hear it now… vintage is old news, modern is in… blah blah blah.  Well, as long as Anthro keeps rocking it like they are and Pottery Barn keeps doing the same, I just have a really hard time buying into the whole “vintage is out” mantra.)  I digress.  It’s been just under a year since design masterminds at Anthro launched their bridal line, BHLDN and every time an email arrives from them, my heart drifts away… yes, it’s that good y’all!  The site is pretty amazing as well (where were you when I was planning my wedding, BHLDN?!?) and has  loads of gorgeous features that make designing your wedding whimsical, like it should be.  I really could spend ALL day blabbering about my love affair with BHLDN, but for now, I’ll leave you with something pretty that gives you the low-down on everything you want to know about engagement parties.

Enjoy this gorgeous day!

Angela

Vineyard Photo shoot with Carlea J Photography :: Featured on Style Me Pretty ::

We were tickled pink at the opportunity to work with the oh so talented Carlea J. Photography and the enchanting Westcave Cellar Winery. Things got even better when we saw that Style Me Pretty featured our beautiful photo shoot on their blog today! Carlea did an incredible job creating a vision for the entire shoot. She asked us to create a vineyard inspired look with deep colors and whimsical branches. We used deep colored succulents, flowing seeded euc, white and eggplant scabiosa, kale, deep purple roses, purple majesty, rudibeka, bullet allium and many many more.

Can we talk about that purple ombre cake made by Amazing Kakes? ummmm… unreal! Not to mention the amazing antique hutch provided by Margaret at Westcave Cellar Winery. We wanted her  hutch to appear as though nature had taken it over with vines, branches and moss growing throughout.

We were so excited to loan our vintage chairs and vintage china from our rental company that helped to create a regal yet rustic finishing touch.

Thank you to all the wonderful vendors who contributed to making this shoot absolutely fabulous! We loved having the opportunity to work with all of you.

Juliet + Gregg :: 05.21.11 :: Lucca at the Caribbean Club, Grand Cayman Island

You may have already seen it on Facebook this morning, but we have to share these to.die.for.pictures of Juliet and Gregg’s wedding that we designed this past May… did we mention it was in Grand Cayman Island… at Lucca at The Carribbean Club nonetheless… Um, did we mention we. love. our. job.  No, but really, WE LOVE OUR JOB!  Not only do we get to work with amazing clients that we love like our own family and travel to beautiful locations like Grand Cayman Island, but we also get to be creative and bring our clients’ visions to life and make their wedding dreams come true through floral design.  Wow!  Talk about BLESSED!  And we really say none of this in a “Look at us, we get to go to Grand Cayman, for work!”, but more so as an attempt to let our clients and vendor friends know how truly grateful and blessed we are for your business.  There are floral design studios all over Austin and the Texas Hill Country, so we just want you to know how much we sincerely appreciate the opportunity to work with you.  We have a lot of incredible things in the works here in Petal Pushers-land and we cannot wait to share those with you soon, but in the meantime, please, from the bottom of our hearts, know how much each of you mean to us, and thank you for giving us the opportunity to do what we are truly passionate about for a living.  It is our hope that this passion shines through in our designs, our tweets, our blog posts, our sometimes-rambling emails, our consultations, and in everything else that is Petal Pushers.

Wow, that was unexpected… I suppose in writing about traveling to GCI for Juliet and Gregg’s wedding, I was overcome with gratitude and humbled thinking that we really are so blessed.  Alright, ramble over, I promise.  Time for a glimpse at Juliet and Gregg’s beyond beautiful wedding day.

And here is a link to their wedding film captured by VIP Productions Juliet + Gregg :: 05.21.11 :: Lucca at Caribbean Club, Grand Cayman Island.  Thank you to Harwell Photography from Georgia for the gorgeous images and to Martha Stewart Weddings for the lovely feature.

Congratulations again Gregg and Juliet!  It was an honor to work with you both!

xoxo, Stacey and the Petal Pushers
